It has been a little over a year since Season 7 of American Idol aired, but the Season 7 finalists are busy these days.
Third place finalist Syesha Mercado has been cast as Deena Jones in the national touring company of “Dreamgirls.” The show will start at New York City’s Apollo Theater on Saturday, November 7, 2009, and it will run until Sunday, December 6, 2009. The show will then hit the road and stop at cities across the U.S. Syesha was an actress before appearing on American Idol, and now she’ll get to act and sing.
Brooke White finished in fifth place during Season 7. Since her time on Idol, Brooke has collaborated with Randy Jackson and is releasing an album on July 21. Brooke’s new single, “Radio Radio,” was released on iTunes last Wednesday. Read more about the upcoming album, here.
Season 7’s American Idol, David Cook, has accomplished something that only two solo males have on the Adult Top 40 charts. He joins John Mayer and Rob Thomas in collecting his third top 10 hit as “Come Back to Me” lifts from 11th to 10th on the chart. His Idol coronation song, “Time of My Life,” reached #7 on the chart, and “Light On” made its way to #4. These three songs come from David’s self-titled album, which landed at #3 on the Billboard 200 in December. To date, “David Cook” has sold 1,174,000 copies to date. … read more
