Lolo Jones had this race to the next to last hurdle. It was looking like Gold, and it would translate to real gold in endorsements and other opportunities. But she felt the Gold around her neck too soon and the weight was too much to bear.
As she reached the next to last hurdle, she leaped too soon clipping the top of the hurdle with her shoe and stumbling. As she tried to recover for the next hurdle, she completely lost her rhythm and all but one runner passed her before the finish.
Lolo collapsed in frustration. Her response to the race, “I usually hit a hurdle and mess up twice a year, it just sucks that it was the most important race of my life”.
Sigh. This may have cost Lolo millions in one stumble, and it cost the US the 1-2 finish. But congratulations go out to American Hero and champion Dawn Harper who gets the Gold!!! Winning is for Champions. Lolo today, was not. Dawn was.
